June 4, 2022 | The BSFS project project partners of the Municipality of Piraeus organized the 3rd joint meeting between the three Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) projects working on urban security.
This dedicated “UIA Day” meeting took place during our 2nd sport event activities week and included a UIA meeting, field visits at the renovated playgrounds & schools and a UIA dinner.
Surrounded by the historic public figures of Piraeus in the Municipal Board Room the project representatives of BSFS (Piraeus, Greece), Tonite (Turin, Italy) & SURE (Tampere, Finland) gave their updates and elaborated on the use of their ICT tools.
The UIA Communication Officer Ms. Nouhaila Bouhout, represented the UIA Permanent Secretariat on the event and supported the efforts of the three projects in tackling actual and perceived security, addressing targeted measures and implementing innovative solutions against all forms of crime and violence.
The sharing experience of another UIA Cultural HIDRANT project of Chalandri & the input of the Europe Direct Piraeus nourished a constructive and fruitful dialogue.
The feedback of the Deputy Mayor of Architecture and Urban Planning of Piraeus Mr. Dimitris Arapis & of the Deputy Mayor of Public Health & Chairwoman of Local Council for Crime Prevention Mrs. Kyriaki Bourdakou, was also of great importance.
This concrete action can provide examples of practices and lessons learned for peer projects and cities and nourish further similar exchanges.
The meeting closed with a field visit tour to the spatial interventions (playgrounds and schools) that were restored under the BSFS project and a dinner among the participants.
