November 25, 2022 | On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, in an open information day organized by the Hellenic Red Cross (Piraeus Department), the project Be Secure Feel Secure (BSFS) was presented along with best practices and knowledge gained on victimisation support.
Ms. Hara Vlastari-Dyovouniotou, psychologist and sociologist from the Laboratory of Urban Criminology of Panteion University, presented and analysed the services of the Crime Victims Information Unit of the Municipality of Piraeus – which was established under the BSFS project – in an exclusive presentation on the topic: “Local level victim support services – a pillar of a holistic approach to urban security”.
The event took place in the historic room of Piraeus’ Association under the auspices of the Piraeus Municipality and the Municipal Equality Committee and was coordinated by the president of the Regional Department of the Hellenic Red Cross, Mr. Konstantinidis.
The musical surprise reserved by the organizers relieved the climate of concern that always raises the major social problem of violence. Hoping that one day there won’t be a need for a special gender-based violence awareness day!
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Mercantile Marine, Mr. Konstantinos Katsafados, the Hellenic Parliament member, Mr. Nikolaos Manolakos, the President of the Greek Red Cross, Mr. Antonios Avgerinos, other distinguished guests and of course the Hellenic Red Cross volunteers of Piraeus.
