Hοw to create safe public spaces?
In view of the UIA expert’s visit in Piraeus, the Municipality of Piraeus project partners organized a seminar on “Safe Public Spaces” 13:00 – 14:30 in the Piraeus City Hall.
The seminar is addressed to Municipal Employees and local stakeholders that undertake the design, care, restoration of public spaces in Piraeus.
During this exclusive seminar, the Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) Expert for BeSecure-FeelSecure (BSFS), PhD architect and expert on safe public spaces Dr. Edna Pezard spoke about the security of public spaces and emerging practices for their design and management.
Special emphasis was given to a series of spatial interventions designed and implemented through the BeSecure-FeelSecure (BSFS) project focusing on the enhancement of 8 playgrounds and 6 public school facilities.
The seminar was opened by the Deputy Mayor of Extroversion, Tourism and European Programs Mrs. Andiana Zarakeli and Deputy Mayor of Construction, Urban Planning and Architecture Mr. Dimitris Arapis and was attended by employees of the Municipality of Piraeus that deal with the planning, management, care and maintenance of public spaces.
On 9th November 11:00 – 13:00 (approx.) the UIA Expert visited the sites of the spatial interventions and the Piraeus Victim Support Unit HQ.
